Situated at the heart of La Libertad, Huehuetenango, Vides Farms emerges as a focal point for progress. This cooperative, harmonizing the efforts of passionate individuals, thrives on collective strength. With technical support from Anacafé and additional fertilization assistance, the cooperative brings to life the true spirit of collaboration.

Under the umbrella of Rainforest Alliance (RFA) certifications, the members of Vides Farms align their efforts with sustainable practices, reflecting their commitment to the environment and quality.

Vides Farms A.K.A La Bolsa embraces a diverse community of individuals who share a common dream. With 40 permanent employees and a bustling workforce of 100 during the harvest months, the cooperative is a testament to the collective strength of individuals united by their passion for coffee.

At elevations ranging from 1300 to 1600 meters above sea level, amidst the nurturing shade of Gravilea and Inga, the cultivation of Caturra and Bourbon cultivars flourishes. The meticulous care given to each plant includes annual pruning and manual selective picking, ensuring only the finest cherries make their way to harvest.

The journey from tree to cup is meticulously choreographed. The cherries, painstakingly picked at their peak ripeness, undergo a meticulous process involving depulping and fermentation. The coffee is then spread on patios for around 15-18 days, guided by the rhythms of nature. The final step involves storing the dried coffee in warehouses, ready for the next phase of its journey.

As the coffee embarks on its voyage to global enthusiasts, it first makes its way from the farm’s warehouses to the dry mill in Guatemala City. This meticulous stage is undertaken with unwavering commitment, adhering to clients’ exacting standards. Cupping approvals in the QC lab ensure that each batch embodies excellence, before finding its place in personalized bags.

The economic, social, and governance aspects of this cooperative reflect its commitment to holistic growth. The cooperative’s activities are driven not only by business but by a deep sense of responsibility towards the community and environment.

The challenges faced are familiar in the coffee industry – high production costs and the complexities of workforce dynamics. Amidst these hurdles, the cooperative remains resolute, seeking innovation and solutions to preserve quality.

The future beckons with promise as Vides Farms envisions further investment and development, continuing to shape a remarkable legacy. Coffee remains their prime focus, but the cooperative’s dedication to the well-being of its members and the community remains unwavering.

As the sun rises over the landscape of La Libertad, Huehuetenango, Vides Farms stands as a testament to collective ambition, stewardship of the land, and the pursuit of excellence. In this shared endeavor, the essence of coffee’s journey comes alive, resonating in every sip enjoyed across the globe.
