Our 1549 Blend (previously called Holkham Bay) currently consists of 1/3 ‘Don Alfonso’ Caturra Peaberry (Costa Rica), 1/3 ‘Don Alfonso’ Obata (Costa Rica) & 1/3 Finca Montes Urales (El Salvador).1549 is our house espresso blend at our coffee house, The Black Apollo, in Holt, north Norfolk.
The flavour notes we get in the cup are milk chocolate, fudge and raisin to give a sweet and creamy coffee.
This is the second successive year we have had beans from the famous Aquiares Estate in Costa Rica. These special microlots are named ‘Don Alfonso’ after Don Alfonso Robelo, patriarch of one of the owning families of the estate who took over farm management in 1992.
The Finca Montes Urales beans in the blend are 100% Pacamara and add a distinct milk chocolate and strawberry flavour. Pacamara beans are desirable for their size and flavour.
1549 Blend is delicious as an espresso, long black or flat white and equally as good with a more milky drink such as a cappuccino or latte.
