1549 Espresso Blend
Our 1549 Blend currently consists of 40% Bela Vista (Brazil), 30% ‘Don Alfonso’ Caturra Peaberry (Costa Rica) & 30% Kisinga (Uganda).1549 is our house espresso blend at our coffee house, The Black Apollo, in Holt, north Norfolk.
The flavour notes we get in the cup are milk chocolate, fudge and raisin to give a sweet and creamy coffee.
Beans from the Bela Vista farm in Brazil constitute 40% of this blend and give the distinct chocolatey notes.
This is the second successive year we have had beans from the famous Aquiares Estate in Costa Rica. This special microlot is named ‘Don Alfonso’ after Don Alfonso Robelo, patriarch of one of the owning families of the estate who took over farm management in 1992. These caturra peaberry beans give raisin and fudge notes.
The Kisinga beans in the blend are a mix of SL28, SL34 and Nyasaland varietals. These add a lovely fruitiness to the blend.
1549 Blend is delicious as an espresso, long black or flat white and equally as good with a more milky drink such as a cappuccino or latte.
