Coffee in north Norfolk
The Black Apollo Coffee House, as seen in The Daily Telegraph & The Rough Guide
We opened The Black Apollo Coffee House in Holt, north Norfolk in the summer of 2014. We sold the coffee house in January 2020 to concentrate on our ever expanding coffee roasting. The coffee house is now run by Jamie Watson, who was our head barista. Situated on the bustling High Street of Holt, Jamie is totally focused on serving our delicious coffee in north Norfolk. Our coffee is roasted in our micro roastery just a few hundred yards from the shop.
We also offer a wide selection artisan cakes and pastries from local bakers. Alyson, of The Sugared Rose Cake Company in Holt supplies us with her delicious Victoria, lemon and chocolate sponges and her fabulous carrot cake. Krusty Loaf of Fakenham supply our amazing pastries and bread.
A variety of made to order light lunches are served.
The Black Apollo is only a small establishment but Jamie will always do his utmost to accommodate. During the summer months there are a couple of tables and chairs outside in the little yard to the rear of the coffee shop.
The Black Apollo continues to serve our 1549 Blend. There is always a guest coffee available which changes every few weeks. The guest is currently the Ethiopian Kochere Banco. The guest coffee is often a more fruity adventurous blend or a single origin coffee.
As well as the espresso based coffee The Black Apollo also offers brewed to order filter coffee using the Aeropress, V60 and Coffee Gator. Shelves are also adorned with home brewing equipment and bags of our retail coffee. The 250g bags of our coffee are extremely popular with visitors and locals alike. The bags contain whole beans but Jamie and the team are very happy to grind to suit your coffee making equipment at home.
The Black Apollo also caters for those of you who prefer tea. There are 12 different teas for you to choose from, all of which are loose leaf and served in a glass teapot on a bamboo tray. The Breakfast blend and Blue Lady are particular favourites with customers.
Toast with real butter and jam or marmalade is a very popular light breakfast for many of the early morning customers as are the freshly made, warm croissants.
