Coffee in north Norfolk
The Black Apollo Coffee House, as seen in The Daily Telegraph & The Rough Guide
We opened The Black Apollo Coffee House in Holt, north Norfolk in the summer of 2014. Situated on the bustling High Street of Holt, we focus on serving delicious coffee in north Norfolk. Our coffee is roasted in our micro roastery just a few hundred yards from the shop.
We also offer a wide selection artisan cakes and pastries from local bakers. Alyson, of The Sugared Rose Cake Company in Holt supplies us with her delicious Victoria, lemon and chocolate sponges and her fabulous carrot cake. Julie of Poppyseed Baking supplies us with an array of mouth watering cakes and bakes, including a fantastic chocolate & amaretto cake. Pye Baker of Norwich supply our amazing pastries and bread. Checkout the almond croissants on a Saturday morning…if there are any left.
A variety of made to order light lunches are served.
We are only a small establishment but we always do our utmost to accommodate. During the summer months we have a couple of tables and chairs outside in our little yard, to the rear of the coffee shop.
Our house blend is Holkham Bay and we have a guest coffee which changes every couple of weeks. Both blends change frequently depending upon what coffee is in season. The guest coffee tends to be a more fruity adventurous blend or a single origin.
As well as the espresso based coffee we also offer brewed to order filter coffee using the Aeropress, V60 and Coffee Gator. Our shelves are also adorned with home brewing equipment and bags of our own retail coffee. Our 250g bags of coffee are extremely popular with visitors and locals alike. The bags contain whole beans but we are very happy to grind to suit your coffee making equipment at home.
We also cater for those of you who prefer tea. We have 12 different teas for you to choose from, all of which are loose leaf and served in a glass teapot on a slate tray. The Breakfast blend and Blue Lady being particular favourites with our customers.
Our toast with real butter and jam or marmalade is a very popular light breakfast for many of our early morning customers as are the large, freshly made, warm croissants.
